August 2014 Theme 1

Theme 1 - Management & Employees
ESRs in Theme 1, together with Ben Egan (Theme 2) met again from 7th to 9th April at KU Leuven (Belgium) for the second part of the Workshop on “Multinationals and Industrial relations in Europe”. During this two-day-seminar, they presented key papers on their research topics, which lead to enriching group discussions on trends, employment practices and typologies of MNC, and transnational and multi-level collective bargaining. Supervisors Prof. Paul Stewart (University of Strathclyde) and Prof. Valeria Pulignano (KU Leuven) also took part in the seminar, presenting their own work on the transformation of employment relations in the EU and lean production in modern MNCs.  Early Stage Researchers present have benefited from the supervisors’ inspiring inputs and support in the discussions.

Encouraged by Experienced Researcher Maria Richea and Prof. Stephen Bouquin (Centre Pierre Naville- University of Évry-Val-d’Essonne), Theme 1 ESRs have been given the opportunity to publish short papers on their preliminary findings in a special issue of the Journal “Les Mondes du Travail” (foreseen publication Winter 2014-2015). They will meet again in Brussels on the 15th of September for a Thematic Workshop on “How to get published?” where they will present and discuss their draft articles. We are looking forward to this meeting as an excellent opportunity for academic exchange, and invite all our colleagues and supervisors to join us for the occasion!
