Education/Research Interests
Olena Fedyuk is a recent graduate from the department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at the Central European University (CEU), Budapest. In 2011 Olena defended her dissertation that tackled questions of transnational moral economies, distant motherhood and care regimes through the ethnographic examination of Ukrainian labour migration to Italy, and since that time continues to pursue her academic interest in sphere of transnational migration, care-work, labour transformations, female employment policies and migration policies.

Career
In March 2014, Olena took up the post-doctoral position in the Marie Curie network “Changing Employment” at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Her recent involvement with relevant projects include “Costs and Benefits of Labour Mobility between the EU and the Eastern Partnership Partner Countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine)” (2012) and NEUJOBS project (2013-14), where she continues to look into the overlap of migration, employment and care regimes. In 2012, Olena started work on a documentary film “Road of a migrant”, which follows a 10-day-long walking religious pilgrimage organized by labour migrants and their families in Ukraine [Link to Olena discussing her documentary].
